About

Our Story

The Ox Club is the heartfelt creation of cousins Liv and Toni, whose shared childhood in Harrogate and collective adventures in London laid the foundation for this unique café in Watlington.

Our deep-seated love for coffee, inspired by the rich coffee culture of Australia, is what drives us. It's where we learned that coffee is much more than a beverage; it's a personal experience.

The journey to open The Ox Club was filled with challenges, from redesigning a historic space to embody our vision to overcoming the hurdles of budget and time. Yet, our commitment never wavered, fueled by a shared dream and the encouragement of our community.

Converting a historical site into our café was a journey filled with challenges, from space limitations to budget expansions. Yet, every detail, from the calming interiors to the oak-topped counters, was crafted with our community in mind, creating a welcoming space for all to enjoy.

Every detail in The Ox Club, the calming colours chosen by Liv to the natural wood finishes and the top-notch La Marzocco coffee machine, bears our personal stamp and the love we've invested in making this café a welcoming atmosphere.

Local Partnerships

At The Ox Club, our heart beats in sync with the local community. We believe in the power of partnerships and the magic that unfolds when local businesses support each other. It's not just about serving food and drinks; it's about weaving the fabric of our community tighter, one partnership at a time.

Routes Coffee

Our journey to find the perfect bean ended in Cowley, with the passionate team of Routes Coffee. Their dedication to quality and the craft of coffee roasting ensures that every cup we serve is a testament to the best our region has to offer.

Calnan Brothers

Our savory delights are filled with the freshest ingredients, sourced from Calnan Brothers butchers. This collaboration not only enriches our menu but also supports the local economy, ensuring a cycle of sustainability and quality.

Undercroft Market

Undercroft Market, a gem in the heart of our community, is where The Ox Club finds some of its freshest, locally-sourced produce. This partnership enriches our menu with vibrant fruits and vegetables, directly supporting local farmers and sustainability.

Lacey's Farm

Our dairy needs are met by the local gem, Lacey's Farm, providing us with fresh, farm-sourced milk. This partnership allows us to serve you dairy that's not just delicious but also ethically produced, embodying our commitment to responsible sourcing.

Interior & Ambiance

Step into The Ox Club and be enveloped in an atmosphere where every detail is a whisper of comfort and elegance. Our interior is a thoughtful blend of tradition and contemporary design, mirroring the historic charm of Watlington with a modern twist.

We've chosen calming hues of Tiran by Farrow & Ball, creating a serene backdrop that invites you to relax and linger over your coffee. The natural light that dances through our windows complements the soft colors, casting a warm glow over the natural wood and oak finishes that adorn our space.

Our furniture, handpicked for both comfort and style, features natural wood and rattan, grounding the space in earthy textures that speak of nature and simplicity. The centerpiece, our oak-topped coffee counter, showcases the heart of our café—the La Marzocco machine—where the art of coffee making comes to life.

In designing our café, we aimed to create more than just a place to eat and drink; we envisioned a sanctuary where the community could gather, share stories, and create memories. The Ox Club is a testament to the love and labor poured into every corner, a cozy nook in Watlington where the ambiance is just as inviting as the menu.
